Of course, Volvo should be commended for developing so many safety measures throughout the years. In crash testing, several competitors have fared as well, but Volvo has positioned itself as the industry leader.

Volvo XC60 Price in 2023
The pricing of the 2023 Volvo XC60 premium compact SUV starts at $43,450, including a delivery fee. This applies to the entry-level Front-Wheel Drive Core trim level.
They are starting at $47,7K for the Plus trim and $53,5K for the Ultimate trim. These variations cost an additional $2,300 for all-wheel drive.
All-wheel drive is a feature that comes standard on Recharge plug-in hybrid XC590 models, which range in price from $57.2K for the Core trim to $74,150 for the Polestar Engineered model. With this most expensive model, there are just a few accessories available.
A federal tax credit of up to $7,500 is available for these XC60 Recharge Extended Range plug-in hybrids. Certain jurisdictions may offer further incentives, like the $1,000 California Clean Vehicle Rebate program, open to anybody who purchases or leases a new XC60 Recharge.

Driving The Volvo XC60 2023
In the XC60 range for 2023, Volvo restricts the 295-horsepower B6 powertrain to only one model, which demonstrates that most purchasers who choose not to purchase a plug-in hybrid vehicle are content with the 247-horsepower B5 engine.
The B5 won’t send chills down many people’s spines, but it gives the XC60 the right power for a premium small SUV. With the B6, the possibility of tingling increases, and it is almost inevitable with the XC60 Recharge versions.
Although plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) mainly aim to stretch a single petrol tank farther, the additional power from an electric motor may also contribute to a few thrills. Each XC60 Recharge this year has 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque.
That’s a lot, propelling this 2-ton or more vehicle from a stop to 60 mph in an absurdly quick 4.5 seconds. However, the average fuel efficiency while driving usually and utilizing the 36-mile electric-only range is around 63 mpg.
The ride quality is set more for comfort and composure than for any heroic handling, except the Polestar Engineered variant (more on that in a bit). An adjustable air suspension is also an option on the most expensive Ultimate trim.
The XC60 Polestar Engineered model is available for anybody who wants to spend money on a Porsche Macan for a luxurious small SUV with a driver’s edge without getting a Porsche Macan.
This model contains shock absorbers from Hlins, a well-regarded provider of suspension parts and, like Volvo, a Swedish manufacturer. It has the same robust PHEV powertrain as the XC60 Recharge. For significantly firmer (but more fun) driving, Polestar, which began as an independent tuning shop, installed stronger springs and a front strut tower bar.
Interior Comfort
The seating surfaces in Core trim are made of faux leather. The genuine article, leather, is placed higher on the food chain.
However, Volvo offers City Weave cloth in Core models, which is fascinating. It’s made of wool, which may seem like the last material someone in Arizona (or other equally hot regions) would desire. Still, wool is durable and maintains a comfortable temperature regardless of the weather.
Then there are the standard Volvo features, such as the very comfortable front seats, the rear seat back support cushions that are an option, and the crystal glass gearshift knob in the Ultimate specification.
The materials are of the highest quality. It isn’t easy to imagine that sandpaper comes in such a fine quality when you run your finger over the very smooth Driftwood inlays (available from the Plus trim).
The majority of individuals should have more than enough occupancy space. With the back seats folded, the luggage space increases from 17.1 to 63.3 cubic feet, providing a generous rear legroom of 38 inches. That also holds for the 2023 XC60 Recharge models, which include additional plug-in hybrid gear. Everything about this is fantastic for the class.

Exterior Design
Along with new trim options, the Plus and Ultimate versions of the Volvo XC60 will have a choice of bright or dark exterior accents. The cost is the same whether it is unclear or bright.
The brilliant treatment is included when a non-Recharge XC60 in Core trim is chosen with the more potent engine, which is the exception.
This iteration of the XC60 has maintained its consistent aesthetic thanks to a style update from the previous year. Which perhaps is not a terrible thing.
The 21-inch alloy wheels on the Polestar Engineered variant come standard. The palette includes black, gray, and white. There are more options in the remaining lineup.

- An infotainment system using Google/Android
Before we go any further, the 2023 XC60 also comes standard with Apple CarPlay. However, this method is modern and favors programs like Google Maps. Users may log in and sync their calendars if they have a Google account. Additionally, over-the-air upgrades are possible.
- A set of 360-degree cameras
This device gives the driver a 360-degree view of the vehicle while operating in confined spaces. The front and rear parking sensors provide another layer of confidence. In the two highest trims, standard.
- Pilot Assist
Pilot Assist, not a hands-free driving technology, offers steering assistance and adaptive cruise control to reduce some of the monotony of lengthy travels. From the Plus trim level, standard.
- Front seat cushion extensions
Indeed, the standard front seats are excellent. Extra under-thigh support is always appreciated, however, particularly for taller people. The Ultimate trim comes with them as standard.

It is a unique choice for Ultimate trim and offers ideal settings for comfort and sports spectrums.
- Bowers & Wilkins audio
The basic Harman Kardon system in the Ultimate trim is fantastic. One of the best available in any car is an optional 15-speaker/1,400-watt surround-sound system, which costs $3,200.
Transmission & Engine
The turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine in the base models of the 2023 XC60 luxury SUV range produces 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It also boasts a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which Volvo calls the B5 drivetrain. This technology helps the engine run as efficiently as possible and provides a smooth action for the fuel-saving stop/start function.
All-wheel drive (AWD) is an option, while front-wheel drive (FWD) is the default.
The B6 drivetrain uses the same engine as the B5 but has been increased to generate 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It is only available in the highest Ultimate trim. The B6 comes with all-wheel drive as standard.
The XC60 Recharge models without Extended Range have been discontinued by Volvo this year. Accordingly, every 2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge T8 eAWD plug-in hybrid model can go 36 miles on electricity alone. The XC60 Recharge is now eligible for federal tax credit and various state incentives.
In the T8 configuration, a 2.0-liter gasoline turbocharged engine powers the front wheels while an electric motor powers the back axle. 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque are the total T8 output numbers.
On a 240-volt source, the lithium-ion battery of the T8 requires three to five hours to charge fully.
